Something I encountered over the weekend that really resonated, and worth sharing:

Wow. How true is that?  This is a real battle.  We need to be armed and to guard it as best as we can.

      Blessings,

      Steve

      JP I really like that.

What we put in our minds controls our lives. Yet we don’t guard this from outside influences like we should, and worse self inflict ourselves way too often.

I might just print this one out for the board.

      Ken

A quote I ran across just this morning that speaks boldly to this:

“Old George Orwell got it backward. Big Brother isn’t watching. He’s singing and dancing. He’s pulling rabbits out of a hat. Big Brother’s busy holding your attention every moment you’re awake. He’s making sure you’re always distracted. He’s making sure you’re fully absorbed. He’s making sure your imagination withers. Until it’s as useful as your appendix. He’s making sure your attention is always filled. And this being fed, it’s worse than being watched. With the world always filling you, no one has to worry about what’s in your mind. With everyone’s imagination atrophied, no one will ever be a threat to the world.” — Chuck Palahniuk

At first I though this was an unique new way to look at an old concept – Mindfulness. When I re-read it, I think it takes mindfulness a step further.

You can be totally present while watching TV, focusing and enjoying what you are watching – that is being mindful.  However you can make a better choice to do something different that brings you more joy and value to your life – that is a higher level of thinking or being.  Maybe it is simply a higher level of mindfulness.

        @Ned,

Are you going philosophical on us?

That one makes my brain hurt 🙂

Just so you know, I’ve been praying for you daily!

        Blessings,

        Steve

Yes Grasshopper,  focus on the pain in your head, be one with your body 🙂

      Thank you for your prayers.

I’ve been praying for you daily too, Ned! You’ve just been on my mind and in my heart, man.
